More about your role
In this role, you will conduct inspections of completed and in-progress electrical works across tenanted and void properties to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with BS7671 and housing standards. You will audit electrical documentation, identify non-compliant or substandard work, and work with contractors and internal teams to ensure timely rectification. You will monitor contractor performance, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement, producing clear audit reports that highlight findings, trends, and recommendations while escalating critical issues to management. You will act as a subject matter expert for electrical compliance, advising field teams, contract managers, and housing officers, and maintain accurate records of audits, certifications, and remedial actions using compliance systems or CAFM platforms. For this role there will be a requirement for travel across the region you are covering.
Essential Criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent in Inspection & Testing.
- Experience in electrical auditing or surveying within the social housing sector.
- Strong understanding of housing compliance frameworks and resident safety obligations.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Recognised as a competent person by NICEIC.
More About you
You will hold an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and be knowledgeable in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) and City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent in Inspection & Testing. You will have experience in electrical auditing or surveying within the social housing sector, with a strong understanding of housing compliance frameworks and resident safety obligations. You will be a NICEIC-recognised competent person with excellent attention to detail and communication skills. Ideally, you will also be familiar with NICEIC or NAPIT auditing standards, housing-specific regulations such as HHSRS and the Decent Homes Standard, and hold IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
