This role offers a location-based annual salary of 70,000-80,000 for candidates based in London and 65,000-75,000 for candidates based outside of London. The salary range listed reflects the base pay for this role at Altus Group and is provided where required by local regulations. The range does not include additional compensation such as bonuses, equity, benefits, or other incentives.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Security, we are hiring a Senior Security Specialist to join our Security Engineering team. As our new Senior Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in advancing Altus Group's security maturity by strengthening our security operations, expanding our offensive security capabilities, and improving how we detect and respond to emerging threats. Working across security engineering, threat intelligence, incident response, and cloud security, you will identify opportunities to improve detection, automate processes, mature security technologies, and strengthen our overall security posture. This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in the UK, Germany, France, or Luxembourg. You will work as part of a geographically distributed security engineering team spanning the UK and Canada.

As our new Senior Security Specialist, you will:

  • Advance our security engineering roadmap. You will strengthen Altus Group's cybersecurity maturity by improving security engineering practices, enhancing detection and response capabilities, and evolving our security technologies.
  • Lead offensive security initiatives. You will help mature our offensive security capabilities by leading threat hunting activities, advancing our purple team program, and supporting adversary emulation and complex incident investigations.
  • You will help shape the future of security at Altus Group by contributing to our AI security roadmap, evaluating emerging technologies, and introducing new ideas that improve how we protect the business.

The security engineering expertise:

  • You have experience across security engineering and security operations, with the ability to solve complex technical challenges and strengthen an organization's security capabilities.
  • You are comfortable acting as a senior technical escalation point, leading engineering initiatives, and balancing operational priorities with long-term improvements.

The infrastructure foundation:

  • You understand that strong security starts with strong technical fundamentals. Whether your background began in networking, systems administration, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering, you bring a deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure, including networking, operating systems, DNS, firewalls, and cloud environments.

The cloud security knowledge:

  • You have hands-on experience securing cloud environments, including Azure, Entra ID, AWS, and SaaS platforms.
  • You understand modern identity, infrastructure, and cloud security principles and can implement and continuously improve security controls across complex technology environments.

The offensive security and threat intelligence expertise:

  • You bring experience with threat hunting, incident response, adversary emulation, and detection engineering, along with a strong understanding of cyber threat intelligence and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
  • You are comfortable analyzing threat intelligence, understanding attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and applying that knowledge within a security operations environment.

You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, building strong relationships across Security Operations, Engineering, and leadership teams. You enjoy keeping pace with new technologies, evolving cyber threats, and emerging security practices. You are motivated to continually expand your knowledge and apply new ideas to strengthen security capabilities.
