Rentokil Initial is hiring an IoT Product Manager to lead hardware development, product optimization, and sustaining engineering across global markets (80+ countries). Based in Waterlooville, Hampshire, this role bridges new product development (NPD) and product lifecycle management (PLM), driving continuous improvement, quality assurance, and design modifications for multi-component electronic devices.

Core Responsibilities & Objectives

  • Hardware Optimization & Sustaining Engineering: Conduct root cause analysis and execute design modifications, hardware upgrades, and performance enhancements for existing electronic products.
  • Engineering Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional product change and cost-optimization initiatives alongside Supply Chain, Quality Assurance (QA), IT, and Marketing teams.
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM): Oversee technical release management, product approval processes, product variant documentation, and Engineering Change Notes (ECN).
  • Firmware & Software Governance: Document, control, and oversee processes for firmware and software modifications across connected devices.
  • Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance: Partner with validation teams to resolve quality issues, ensuring products comply with international and regional regulatory standards.
  • Supplier & Manufacturing Collaboration: Technical liaison with external electronics suppliers, contract manufacturers, and assembly partners.

Technical Competencies & Tools

  • PCB Design Software: Proficient in Altium Designer (Schematic capture, PCB layout).
  • Electronics Manufacturing: Direct experience with PCB assembly (PCBA), hardware testing, and multi-component assembled devices.
  • Analytical Testing: Methodological approach to electronics development utilizing technical models, test data generation, and risk mitigation over empirical trial-and-error.
  • Firmware/Software (Desirable): Basic knowledge of scripting languages, such as JavaScript.

Education: BSc or BEng (Honours) in Electronics Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience Level: Senior-level experience across the full product development lifecycle in a matrixed, multi-national organization.

Commercial & Financial Acumen: Understanding of product cost structures, Bill of Materials (BOM) optimization, manufacturing cost drivers, and commercial viability.
