Rentokil Initial has an IT strategy of utilising a mix of bespoke and off the shelf applications across the Prospect to Cash business processes. The Group Information Systems (GIS) function is developing an exciting new generation suite of Enterprise solutions utilising Google Cloud Platform. The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills across the software development life cycle and a deep practical understanding of the activities of Rentokil Initial, demonstrating the importance of high quality and efficient software delivery.

Main Purpose of the Role:

  • In discussion and agreement with the team, implement the agreed delivery approach and take responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered successfully.
  • Set the agile product team up for success, supporting them in problem solving and enabling them to come up with their own insights and products within constraints.
  • Evolve and codify our delivery practices, learning and iterating frequently, and coaching others to do so – and document findings, tools and approaches.
  • Manage the delivery of digital products alongside the product teams with a deep understanding of how these solutions add value.
  • Act autonomously ensuring that daily tasks and ongoing workloads are prioritised and completed in agreed time frames.
  • Support the management and implementation of the agreed target service management systems in line with the agreed regional business priorities.
  • Aid the formation and running of high performing product teams where people are excited about the work they are undertaking.
  • Plan, facilitate and implement service management solutions, agreed with the regional businesses, ensuring that project reporting and work stream structures are in place and effective reporting, escalation and remediation at all times.
  • Handle and manage highly complex and sensitive information about staff, business processes, commercial plans, strategic objectives and barriers to change.
  • Work with the regional business team to ensure there is a business understanding of how the solutions and tools will be delivered to the business.
  • Prepare for and participate in the PI-planning event and support the Product Owner and other POs in aligning the delivery of product releases.
  • Support the team in estimating features and aligning sprint priorities with agreed PI plans.
  • Promote quality and ensure that the product teams follow the RI standard, policies and guidelines in delivering their work.
  • Ensure the team's compliance to RI business processes and policies, especially the development process and the life cycle management process.
  • Manage release quality of product releases (functional, performance, security).

Requirements:

  • Work alongside the Product Owner to help the team improve its own throughput and communicate with others about how the team is delivering.
  • Be an experienced Agile delivery practitioner, with expertise in delivering digital projects, breaking down barriers for your team, developing strong relationships and getting into the detail to make things happen.
  • Spot warning signs of things going wrong and provide recommendations to alleviate significant delivery challenges.
  • Work with the Product Owner to ensure our delivery of solutions is robust, risk managed and commercially strong.
  • Lead internal engineering team to ensure timely delivery of product strategic objectives, helping overcome any risk or obstacles to successful delivery.
  • Liaise with third-party software suppliers where necessary ensuring quality delivery of product objectives.
  • Lead the team to accurately scope, estimate and define effort for complex projects.
  • Initiate action on the development of system enhancements in line with PI objectives.
  • Manage new releases of applications software from systems development staff or software suppliers.
  • Refer to domain experts for guidance on specialised areas of risk, such as compliance, architecture, finance and environment.
  • Allocate responsibilities and assign packages of work to groups of staff, ensuring alignment with the particular skills and abilities of teams.
  • Understand the company’s own strategy and planning processes.
  • Define product team’s planning and release process in accordance with GIS strategy.
  • Build robust high-level plans for successful product launch.
  • Ensure optimum use of resources to gain the required impact.
  • Work within a defined organisation governance framework.
  • Ensure team adheres to change management processes.
  • Examine evidence and evaluate the quality of project outputs against the agreed service acceptance criteria.

Experience:

  • Understand the principles of business and markets and have experience of relevant business sectors.
  • Proven project management and leadership skills, with knowledge of specific project management methodology.
  • Thorough knowledge of how to make and sustain a business case.
  • Demonstrate up to date knowledge of the organisation’s business environment, culture, policy framework, organisational relationships, business processes, and reporting procedures.
  • Display good inter-personal skills at all levels of contact and in a wide variety of situations.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and good stakeholder management practices.
  • Demonstrate sound practical knowledge of associated technical disciplines.
  • Use a high level of technical understanding to interpret technical issues for the business.
  • Educated to bachelor degree level and holds a relevant professional qualification.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Familiar with SCRUM as applied within Rentokil-Initial.
  • Agile and Lean methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Impediment management and SCRUM style facilitation.
  • Keep commercial considerations continually in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
  • Understand the needs of the internal or external customer and regularly check with the customer.
  • Be proactive, anticipating opportunities for service improvement.
  • Take innovative approaches to problem solving and devise creative solutions.
  • Convey a level of confidence and professionalism, positively influencing and persuading others.
