Job Purpose
Provides support to category team and manages small-scale projects (up to c.1.5m GBP spend) under supervision.
FOCUS AREAS:
- Strategy: Focus on execution of strategy
- Suppliers: Mostly focussed on Minor with some Major suppliers
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day-to-day operational management of sub-categories, related suppliers, and ERP systems
- Deliver cost reduction and sustainability projects with support from category team
- Market research on product trends, innovation, sustainability, pricing and legislative requirements
- Help mitigate supply risks and drive continuous improvement
SPECIFIC TASKS
- Day-to-day issue resolution
- Run small tenders or medium tenders with support from Category team
- Support sourcing of leverage and non-critical supplies
- Ongoing analysis of category areas
- Part and supplier creation process
- Nav price list maintenance
- Negotiate terms with smaller suppliers and implement contracts in line with policy and processes (typically up to £1.5m annual spend) with support from line manager
- Assess new suppliers in line with processes to provide guidance for supplier approval
- Conduct supplier analysis to support various projects, including acquisitions
Skills and Experience
- Skills in the Google suite of applications and Microsoft Office packages
- Studying CIPS
- Years and type of Skills / Experience required: 2-4
- Good basic procurement knowledge
- Proven relationship building abilities
- Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good influencing and persuasion skills
