Our client is a highly experienced Global Sourcing Specialist in Industrial Supplies. They currently work with numerous high-profile multinational companies, delivering a specialist service that requires exceptional operational and procurement support to their on-site teams. They have built strong relationships not only with their clients but also with their suppliers, and they work diligently to maintain those relationships through strong communication, reliability, and service excellence.

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring engineering, facility, and manufacturing equipment spare parts and services. Additionally, the Buyer shall be responsible for negotiating the best terms and conditions of purchase (price, lead time, payment terms) and for identifying and executing cost reduction initiatives. The role is customer-facing and will require a significant amount of interaction with the customers' maintenance and technical team members.

Key Elements:
  • Reacts to purchase requisitions for ad-hoc (spot buy) and inventory controlled items in a timely manner.
  • Travelling to customer sites when required.
  • Sources and procures engineering, facility, and manufacturing equipment spare parts and services.
  • Places purchase orders in the company system.
  • Expedites delivery of orders and updates delivery promise dates within the system.
  • Ensures on-time delivery of goods through effective supplier monitoring and management.
  • Identifies and executes cost reduction initiatives through negotiating price reductions or through identifying product substitution through formal agreement and approval with the customer.
  • Reports and tracks cost savings within the company system.
  • Resolves non-conforming delivery issues and arranges return of goods for credit or replacement.
  • Resolves invoice queries.
  • Ensures company reports are maintained in a timely manner (weekly basis).
Required Skill Sets / Abilities:
  • Good knowledge of the engineering/maintenance and factory consumables product group.
  • Good knowledge of the engineering/maintenance and factory consumables supply chain.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Articulate, numerate, and system literate.
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes.
  • Proven ability in the identification and execution of cost-saving initiatives (price reduction, approved product substitution, product standardisation, etc.).
