Are you a detail-oriented payroll professional looking for a rewarding role within a values-driven organisation? Join our Finance team; this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy, and is looking for a varied role where they can make a meaningful contribution.
What you will do:
- Support the delivery of monthly payroll for over 340 employees, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance.
- Process payroll changes including new starters, leavers, contractual amendments, overtime, deductions and statutory payments.
- Act as a key point of contact for payroll queries, providing a professional and helpful service to colleagues across the organisation.
- Assist with pension administration, salary exchange arrangements, payroll reporting and year-end activities.
- Support the reconciliation of retail income, helping to ensure accurate financial records and effective income controls.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, working collaboratively with Finance and Retail teams.
- Prepare journals, maintain financial records and support month-end and audit processes.
- Build positive working relationships with stakeholders across the charity, including HR, managers, pension providers and external partners.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance payroll and finance processes.
- Help support a charity that provides compassionate hospice care and bereavement services to local communities across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
What you will need:
- All candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
- Previous payroll administration experience.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and statutory payments.
- Excellent numeracy and attention to detail.
- A good level of IT literacy is required, including confidence in using Microsoft Office applications, email, and other digital systems relevant to the role.
- Full, current valid UK driving licence.
- Access to a vehicle which can be used for work purposes.
- Car insurance, including business cover.
- If successful, a DBS check will be undertaken as part of the onboarding process.
