Wotton under Edge up to £45,000 depending on experience. Renishaw is a global leader in the design and development of inspection probe technology and metrology systems. Due to organisational growth we are recruiting a Senior Optical Design / Development Engineer to join the Encoder Products Division (EPD) at our HQ in Wotton-under-Edge.
As an Optical Design / Development Engineer at Renishaw, you'll be involved in the engineering design of optical and electro-mechanical products, including laser interferometer measurement systems and precision mechanical transducers used in sub-micron dimensional measurements. You'll be given the chance to impart your knowledge and be part of a small team of engineers, interfacing with new product and manufacturing teams where necessary.

Responsibilities- Evolving and maintaining product system designs capable of measuring to sub-micrometre resolution which include precision optical, electronic and mechanical technology.
- Developing prototype testing and analysis of data to support the design.
- Investigating product performance issues, providing solutions to a timescale.
- Designing test systems and processes for use in manufacturing.
- Working closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure best practice for manufacture and assembly.
- A degree in physics or an engineering subject.
- Knowledge or experience in design and development of optical systems and assemblies.
- Possess problem solving and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
- Practical and theoretical approach to projects.
- A valid UK driving license.
- A demonstrable interest / background in optical system design.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, LabVIEW, and/or Zemax.
