Renishaw is a global leader in the design and development of inspection probe technology and metrology systems. Due to organisational growth, we are recruiting a Design / Development Technician to join the Encoder Products Division (EPD) at our HQ in Wotton-under-Edge.

As a Design / Development Technician at Renishaw, you'll be involved in supporting our existing range of precision and miniaturised optical encoder products. Renishaw optical encoder systems are used in automated motion control systems to deliver sub-micron position measurement feedback. You'll be given the chance to use your skills and knowledge as part of a diverse team of engineers supporting and improving existing products, encouraged to interface with new product and manufacturing teams across the business.

Responsibilities

  • The build, test and prove out of prototypes and pre-production products
  • Assistance in the development of these products & the processes that build them
  • Design verification and validation testing
  • Design and development of bespoke test equipment including electro-mechanical solutions
  • Working as part of the design team on product development
  • Generation of supporting documentation

Key Requirements

  • An eye for detail and motivated to achieve the highest standards
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work with a range of technical personnel from across the company
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical requirement briefs with the ability to draw out clarification when required
  • A good level of English, maths and PC literacy, particularly in MS Office
  • Valid UK driving License

Desirable requirements

  • Knowledge of encoder products
  • Experience of the assembly or investigation of electromechanical equipment
  • Experience of wiring, soldering or related assembly workmanship
  • Familiarity with wiring diagrams, assembly drawings and BOMs etc.
