Renishaw UK Sales has a vacancy for an Area Sales Manager – Encoder Products to join the UK & Ireland field-based sales team. The role will focus on developing sales of Renishaw’s encoder product range by building strong customer relationships, identifying new opportunities and supporting long-term project development across a range of advanced engineering sectors.
You will be responsible for delivering sales growth against agreed revenue and unit targets, managing the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through to order placement. You will contribute to the Sales and Marketing plan and support activities including trade shows, open houses, customer events and targeted communications.
A key part of the role will be developing and maintaining a healthy sales pipeline by identifying prospects, supporting existing customers and promoting Renishaw encoder solutions for design-in opportunities. Customers will span varied industries, including defence, medical, semiconductor, machine tools, aerospace, automotive and other advanced manufacturing sectors.
The successful candidate will have a suitable technical or engineering background and the capability to discuss complex applications with customers. Encoder projects often involve a longer pre-sales cycle, so persistence, patience and a structured approach will be important in helping customers adopt Renishaw’s advanced technology.
As part of the UK Sales team, you will work closely with colleagues across sales, applications engineering and back-office support, contributing to and learning from the team’s knowledge, experience and skills.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver sales of Renishaw encoder products to customers and prospects to meet agreed growth targets.
- Identify, qualify and develop long-term projects and design-in opportunities.
- Build value-based sales propositions and deliver technical presentations to customers at all levels.
- Maintain CRM records to support accurate forecasting and effective pipeline management.
- Participate in exhibitions, open houses, trade events and customer engagement activities.
- Maintain regular product knowledge and contribute to targeted sales and marketing activities.
Key requirements:
- Suitable technical or engineering background, with the ability to understand and communicate complex customer applications.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build productive customer and colleague relationships.
- Self-motivated, organised and able to manage time effectively across a field-based sales territory.
- Competent user of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Home-based role with regular attendance at UK Renishaw offices, customer locations and occasional overseas travel to Renishaw group offices or exhibitions.
