Overview

In this field-based role, you perform service, calibration and verification on CMMs and Equator-X systems to uphold ISO 10360 standards and Renishaw’s reputation for precision. You’ll work at customer sites across the UK (with some international travel), delivering expert calibration support and contributing to continuous improvement in metrology processes. The role combines hands-on testing with documentation, training, and strong customer interaction to drive trust and manufacturing performance. Responsibilities

  • Perform service and maintenance on CMMs and Equator-X machines to high standards
  • Carry out ISO 10360-2/5 verification and calibration following Renishaw procedures
  • Set up and measure with calibrated artefacts (gauge blocks, step gauges, spheres, temperature sensors)
  • Prepare calibration labels, certificates and documentation for customers
  • Conduct performance analysis and error mapping using laser interferometers (XL-80 / XM600)
  • Diagnose verification failures and advise corrective actions
  • Support installation and commissioning teams with calibration input
  • Maintain calibration records, equipment logs and database processes
  • Provide expert guidance on calibration standards, measurement uncertainty and machine performance
  • Communicate results clearly and ensure customers understand compliance status
  • Deliver on-site user guidance on maintaining performance and environmental best practices
  • Represent Renishaw professionally and build strong customer relationships
  • Provide feedback to engineering, metrology and R&D on recurring issues and improvements
  • Help refine calibration procedures and contribute to global standardisation of calibration across the service network

Key requirements

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Metrology, Mechatronics or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a customer facing, field based role
  • Excellent customer-facing communication and professionalism
  • Methodical, detail-driven with analytical skills
  • Capable of working independently on customer sites with minimal supervision
  • Strong ownership and reliability in delivering high-quality calibration outcomes
  • UK driving licence
  • Willingness and availability for frequent travel with overnight stays, including overseas assignments
  • Ability to work in controlled environments and follow strict calibration procedures
  • Desirable: proven calibration/metrology experience and knowledge of measurement principles, uncertainty and traceability
  • Desirable: experience with Renishaw CMM technologies including Equator-X, REVO-2, UCCServer and calibration databases
