Location: Wotton-under-Edge, Glos.

We are looking for a motivated Supplier Development Engineer to support our Supply Chain Development function through Design for Manufacture (DFM) activity, new supplier onboarding, and project delivery across multiple product areas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical problem-solving, supplier collaboration, and influencing product and process quality from the outset.

  • Work across functions to capture and clarify purchased-item quality issues, defining robust problem statements.
  • Collaborate with Design teams to understand critical features, performance requirements and DFM opportunities.
  • Engage with external suppliers to develop new components, processes and services, and to manage containment and corrective actions for quality concerns.
  • Partner with Purchasing to identify and develop new suppliers, follow commodity strategies and mitigate supply-chain risks.
  • Support Goods-In Inspection to ensure effective incoming quality control.
  • Generate high-quality reports, inspection summaries and root-cause investigations.
  • Lead or support project-managed item development activities.
  • Take ownership of departmental metrics, targets and defined strategic projects.

Qualifications or experience in an engineering or manufacturing discipline (role level and salary scaled accordingly).

Knowledge of engineering drawings, inspection methods and GD&T.

Awareness of quality systems such as ISO9001.

Willingness to travel to suppliers in the UK and overseas as required.

Flexibility to undertake initial functional training at multiple MSD sites.

Delivery-based performance assessments can support progression within the role structure, with potential pathways into senior technical or team-leading positions.
