Location: Miskin, South Wales.
We are currently recruiting for a Development Machinist within Low Volume Manufacturing working a 3 shift pattern (6am 2pm, 2pm 10pm & 10pm 6am). The purpose of the role is to provide additional programming, setting and operating resource to support the increased production demand of specials and low volume production parts.
Responsibilities:
- Setting / Operating CNC machines (Milling or Turning) to the standard set and run times.
- Interpret drawings and use initiative in deciding tooling selection and the method of manufacture.
- Monitor the quality of components using a wide range of equipment including CMM inspection and complete departmental quality documentation.
- Generate new component part programmes with the aid of Gibbs CAM programming software and subsequent prove out of new processes.
Key requirements:
- Applicants must have served an apprenticeship and have expertise in using a variety of CNC machine tools, including milling or turning.
- A sound knowledge of manufacturing methodology to ensure that new processes are both capable and efficient.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good PC skills are essential.
Desirable requirements:
- A comprehensive knowledge of CNC machining with some programming knowledge is desirable.
- Experience using a variety of inspection methods including CMMs.
- Expertise in the use of GibbsCam software would be desirable although full training will be provided for successful applicants.
