Barlborough Medical Practice are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and caring Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our team. You will be working alongside our clinical team providing high quality care and services to our patients. You may also be required to work at our branch site in Renishaw.
Responsibilities:
- Blood taking.
- Blood pressure checks.
- Height, weight, BMI measurements.
- ECG performance.
- Spirometry (preferred but not essential).
- B12 injections.
- Flu immunisations.
- Diabetic checks including foot check.
- INR check using point‑of‑care INR machine (training provided); home visits for INR also.
- BLS training.
- Assist clinicians where needed.
- Proactively assist with QOF achievements and coordinate recalls.
- Assist with stock checks, equipment checks and ordering.
- Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating.
- Maintain effective communication within the practice teams and with other health and social care agencies, including the voluntary sector.
- Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation in line with legislation, policies and procedures.
- Prioritise, organise and manage own workload to maintain and promote quality of care.
- Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others and exploring new ways of working.
- Manage and assess risk within areas of responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients.
- Apply infection‑control measures within the practice according to local and national guidelines.
- Use technology and appropriate software to aid in planning, implementation and monitoring of care, presenting and communicating information.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience working as an HCA in General Practice.
- Experience with System One and QOF recall and admin processes.
- Health Care Assistant qualification.
Desirable:
- Qualifications in HCA/Phlebotomy.

- Patient list size: 8,400+.
- Four Partners (3 GP & 1 PM).
