A new opportunity has arisen to join the Supplier Quality Engineering team, who are part of the Purchasing Group at Renishaw. As a Supplier Development Engineer, you’ll support new product design, supplier development and project management activities with an immediate focus on our CMM and Industrial Automation product lines.
Responsibilities:
- Working with Design teams to understand critical features and performance requirements
- Working with multiple GMSD functions to capture purchased item quality problem statements
- Conducting and recording external supplier visits to both develop and manage new/existing supply
- Working with Purchasing Buyers to identify and develop new suppliers and follow commodity strategies and mitigate future production supply risks
- Working with Goods-In Inspection functions to ensure incoming goods are managed and inspected
- Generating reports to present inspection or quality investigation findings
- Supporting and/or driving and project managing item development activities
- Identifying and communicating opportunities for improved process control and/or DFM-driven cost-down
- Ownership of departmental metrics and adhering to targets of defined strategic/profile projects
- Engagement with, or ownership of, Early Careers students’ workload and personal development
Key requirements:
- Degree level qualifications in an engineering/manufacturing discipline
- Professionalism, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with stakeholders
- Driven, self-motivated and willing to learn and contribute
Desirable requirements:
- Knowledge of engineering and inspection techniques and equipment
- Awareness of quality systems e.g. ISO9001
Person specification:
You will need sound problem solving mindset and a logical approach to varied technical challenges. You will need to be self-motivated and able to learn quickly, work independently and deliver with limited local support; as well as maintain a professional behaviour to interact with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Visiting suppliers is a key requirement so the individual must be prepared for some travel – UK and abroad.
