Renfrewshire Community Health and Social Care Partnership is looking to recruit a Rehabilitation Officer (Qualified) to join Social Work’s Sensory Impairment Services. The Services provide an all‑age service across Renfrewshire and sit within the Adult Services and locality structure. The Sensory Impairment Team is a small specialist team offering a quality rehabilitation and support service to adults with sensory loss and a habilitation service to blind and visually‑impaired children and young people. The team also provides communication support to individuals who are British Sign Language (BSL) users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide rehabilitation and support to adults with sensory loss, including assessment, design and implementation of training and support plans to maximise independence.
  • Supervise, motivate and organise various groups of all ages, assist blind and visually‑impaired individuals with relevant skill teaching and equipment demonstration.
  • Prioritise workload, respond flexibly to emerging situations and work both independently and within a team.
  • Apply effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication and problem‑solving skills to meet challenges and maintain a positive attitude towards individuals with disabilities, especially those with hearing loss or deaf/blind.
  • Participate in single shared assessments in Self‑Directed Support Principles and processes and demonstrate knowledge of the DWP benefits system and third‑sector services for people with sensory loss.
  • Use IT packages effectively and, where required, maintain a current full driving licence and use personal transport.

Key Qualifications

  • Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies or equivalent (mandatory).
  • Higher Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies or an Advanced Certificate in Education (working with visually impaired children) or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience working within a Social Work team and with people who have sensory loss.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication and assessment skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop in the role.
