Renfrewshire Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Transcription Assistant.
The main duties of the post are to provide a transcription and proof reading service for a variety of original documents. To provide original materials in Braille, audio, large print and other accessible formats as per individual pupil requirements.
It is essential that you hold a Grade 1 Certificate in English Braille (preferably Unified English Braille) and have a minimum National 4/5 English and Maths or equivalent. You will have experience of transcribing print files and documents into accessible formats, experience of using transcription software, scanning hardware and software, Braille embosser/tactile diagram equipment. You should also have experience in working with various Microsoft Office and other relevant PC software and of audio reading.
You will have attention to detail, high accuracy and concentration levels and be able to effectively manage time and resources to meet deadlines. You should be flexible in your approach and have the ability to adapt to change.
