Renfrewshire Council are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to play a leading role in the Council’s journey to Net Zero. This exciting new role offers the opportunity to work with local partners, services and community stakeholders to promote the journey to Net Zero and develop local networks and connections to drive sustainable outcomes.
As Sustainability Lead Officer (Stakeholder Engagement) you will manage Sustainability Project Officers and will have a specific responsibility for leading and developing an innovative and comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy and action plan for Renfrewshire’s journey to Net Zero.
Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, you will lead on a programme of internal engagement within the Council to promote positive behaviours, change programmes and initiatives to support the council’s Net Zero ambitions and programme of work.
You will be responsible for identifying and promoting opportunities for individuals and groups to become more active in their local community, to come together and develop shared aspirations for their local area and for supporting groups as they develop and achieve their Net Zero aspirations.
You will support the Sustainability Manager in forging strong and effective partnerships and working relationships with Elected Members, Senior Managers, partner organisations and other community planning partners and in developing the capacity, skills and effective working of the employees within the service.
It is essential you have a relevant communication, engagement or participation professional qualification or equivalent experience; a relevant degree or post graduate qualification is desirable.
You must have substantial experience in multi-disciplinary project work, proven track record in supporting and developing communities, successful delivery of stakeholder engagement projects and interventions in a partnership context as well as knowledge of the statutory and legislative requirements of the service and relevant national and local programmes and frameworks including community learning and development functions.
Project management, influencing, negotiation and effective communication, presentation and written skills with the ability to demonstrate significant leadership and management skills is essential.
Experience of developing and implementing policies and initiatives across an organisation and ability to manage risk and be accountable for decisions taken.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
