Renfrewshire Council – proud holder of the prestigious Council of the Year award – is seeking an exceptional, highly experienced professional to take on the pivotal role of Strategic Facilities Manager (Asset Management and Hard FM). As one of Scotland’s leading local authorities, Renfrewshire has built a strong reputation for excellence: delivering high‑quality services, demonstrating robust financial management, and driving meaningful improvements for communities across the region.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that is ambitious, forward‑thinking, and committed to making a real difference. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated individual with a proven track record of leading and delivering both standard and complex projects within commercially sensitive environments.
In this role, you will take the lead on statutory compliance, repairs, planned preventative maintenance, and lifecycle upgrades across a diverse Public Buildings portfolio. You will also spearhead the strategic property programme – including potential property rationalisation – ensuring our estate continues to meet the evolving needs of services and the people of Renfrewshire. This is a role that blends strategic vision with hands‑on operational leadership.
You will provide expert professional advice, guide service development, and work collaboratively with Services, Officers and external partners to deliver high‑quality projects on time and within budget. Oversight of both revenue and capital budgets will be a key part of your remit, ensuring financial control and effective delivery.
We are seeking someone with deep knowledge of Hard FM, including procurement and programme planning, and the ability to respond dynamically and creatively to change. Strong problem‑solving, negotiation, communication, team‑building and motivational skills are essential, along with a commitment to excellence and a high level of commercial awareness.
You will be confident working with industry‑standard systems and construction‑related software such as CAMIS, Viewpoint, SharePoint or similar platforms. Staying informed on emerging legislation and standards – including sustainability, Net Zero and Passivhaus – and understanding their implications for the property estate will be an important part of the role.
A relevant degree or professional qualification, or evidence of equivalent knowledge, training or experience, is essential. You will also bring substantial senior‑level experience and significant post‑qualification expertise across the areas outlined above.
