This is an exciting opportunity to join Renfrewshire Council’s professionally challenging and rewarding Children’s Services Throughcare & Aftercare Team. You will have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in all aspects of service delivery within a busy Throughcare setting.

The post holder will provide a statutory social work service to care‑experienced young people and unaccompanied asylum‑seeking children, supporting their wellbeing, safety and development in line with legislation, Council policy, SSSC Codes of Practice and the principles of The Promise.

Main duties will include:

  • Undertaking individual assessments
  • Pathway Planning
  • Care planning, review and ongoing risk management
  • Focused interventions with young people and families

You will work in partnership with multi‑agency colleagues and represent Renfrewshire Council at a range of forums including Children’s Hearings and court. Recording and monitoring work using the Council’s electronic case recording system is an integral part of the role.

You will be required to participate in professional supervision, training and team meetings and contribute to service development and continuous improvement.

It is essential that you have current experience within a child care setting, client supervision, undertaking individual work and co-working, as well as experience in multi-agency working. Experience of working with care experienced young people who have been looked after and who may have housing, employability and/or addiction issues, and experience of working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children is desirable.

You must have effective interpersonal skills and assessment and writing skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively, prioritise, work as part of a team as well as on your own and the ability to use IT. It is essential that you have CQSW or DIPSW or appropriate qualification and be registered with SSSC.
