Based at Underwood Road Depot, Paisley you will join the very busy Building Services team and will have responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, coordination and operational management of Renfrewshire Council’s Building Services Operation. Reporting to the Lead Facilities Manager you will have responsibility for supporting the development of responsive repairs, voids, programme works, compliance and capital works. The Service wishes to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic person who will assist in achieving these goals.
You must be qualified to a minimum level of HNC/ HND or relevant appropriate professional experience and evidence of continuing, relevant professional development. It would be desirable to have membership of a professional organisation.
You must have experience of Building Services Operations within a large and diverse organization including frontline operations. You should be able to demonstrate a successful track record of leading/supporting operational change, service delivery and service improvements including culture change and team building, including effective project management and co-ordination skills.
You must have the capacity to contribute effectively to a team culture both leading and participating as a team member while retaining responsibility for prioritising workloads and have experience of formulating and implementing operational plans within a large and complex organization. This includes contributing towards the adoption of a data led approach to service delivery by fully utilising available performance/customer data to drive continuous improvement and service enhancement in line with stakeholders and partners.
Experience of managing people within a large Unionised Environment and the ability to lead and manage a diverse range of services requirements, and to adapt to a changing job scope and remit as services develop including effective leadership, motivational skills, resource management, risk management, implement change, influencing and working well with people.
It is essential that you have the capacity to work under pressure to meet legislative objectives and organisational priorities. In addition, you must have experience in delivering customer focused services and dealing with resolution of issues within a time sensitive environment.
You will have the ability to operate throughout the organisation and can demonstrate effective influencing skills in order to deliver business objectives. Experience of working strategically with key partners to develop and deliver services. You will have effective verbal communication, presentation, networking, regulatory, influencing and motivational skills at all levels.
Proven track record in financial management and controlling budgets and clear analytical skills to allow the exploration, evaluation and interpretation of information and opinions. You will have a knowledge of the statutory and legislative requirements of the service, of deployment systems and resource management and the ability to operate effectively at a high operational level and give clear focus in delivering and enhancing services.
You must be willing to undertake any necessary training and Continuous Professional Development to meet current requirements of the role and future developments. Many areas of the business require that strict deadlines are met for both performance and financial reasons; the ability to work to tight deadlines is essential.
You will also participate on a Rota basis, control and management of the Councils Out of hours service provision for Building Services. A current driving licence is also essential.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
