An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated data professional to join Renfrewshire Council's Learning Estate Strategy Team. Renfrewshire has committed to its largest ever investment in the learning estate, and this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of this major programme through data-driven insight, analysis and geographic information systems (GIS).
The successful candidate will lead the collection, verification, analysis and communication of a wide range of data to support strategic planning and decision-making across the Council's learning estate. Working closely with senior officers, project teams, national agencies and external partners, you will help ensure that future investment decisions are informed by robust evidence, accurate forecasting and high-quality data analysis.
You will work with the Strategic Manager (Learning Estate Strategy & Delivery) and colleagues across Children's Services and the wider Council to develop and maintain key datasets relating to school rolls, pupil projections, admissions, catchment areas, transport and accommodation requirements. You will lead the development of GIS mapping, modelling and data visualisation approaches that communicate complex information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences, supporting business cases, major capital projects and strategic service planning.
This role offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the planning and delivery of schools and educational facilities for future generations of children and young people across Renfrewshire. You will be responsible for providing specialist analytical advice, supporting statutory data returns, developing forecasting models and helping to identify opportunities and impacts associated with learning estate investment and transformation projects.
It is essential you have a relevant degree / equivalent relevant experience, experience in local government or similar diverse organisation as well as relevant experience in working with statistical data/ analytical packages / IT systems including Geographic Information Systems (GIS). You must have a working knowledge of internal and external data sources for population profiling and to inform analysis of specific areas of interest to the Council and its partners, effective organisational, time management, IT skills and effective interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Effective analytical skills, with ability to interpret and communicate complex data, proficient IT skills, especially in the use of software tools for data extraction, manipulation and presentation are also essential.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
