Overview
You will contribute to the achievement of agreed service objectives by maintaining the Council Tax & Non Domestic Rates registers by assessing various types of information provided and thereafter updating the Council\’s online Council Tax/Non Domestic Rates billing and collection systems.
You will be required to undertake data input to the online Revenues administration systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update Council Tax and Non Domestic Rates registers and related billing/collection systems.
- Input data to online Revenues administration systems accurately.
- Handle customer queries by phone, face to face and in writing.
Essential qualifications and skills
- Experience dealing with customer queries by phone, face to face and in writing.
- Experience in a clerical, administrative or data input environment.
- Basic understanding of Council Tax and/or Non Domestic Rates.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to make effective decisions based on appropriate rationale.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to present ideas clearly, verbally and in writing; able to work alone and as part of a team.
Desirable qualifications and skills
- Experience in administration of Council Tax or Non Domestic Rates; participation in change activity; creating verbal and written reports; delivering coaching/training within a team and on an individual basis.
- Knowledge of Council Tax and/or Business Rates legislation and administration; experience with Northgate I-World and Information At Work systems; knowledge of Housing & Council Tax Benefits legislation & administration.
- SVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or HNC in an appropriate subject (or equivalent).
