Working as a whole school technician, you will assist the teaching staff in the work necessary in practical areas of the science department as well as undertaking Audio Visual duties. Duties include preparing materials, equipment, and teaching resources for use by teachers and students within the science department.
You will assist the teaching staff within the Science department and will support the use of computer aides/teaching resources throughout the school. You will also be required to keep abreast of Health and Safety legislation and to assist if and when required with setting up and maintaining Audio Visual equipment.
You will provide support to all departments within the school as requested by the Head Teacher or nominee, although you will be based within the Science department. You will also support Audio Visual activities.
You will be responsible for servicing Science practical areas and workrooms, ensuring that all equipment and materials are presented and stored in a safe condition.
It is essential you have experience of working in a science/audio visual department and an awareness of statutory inspection requirements and Health and Safety law. You must have effective communication and organisational skills and be able to work on your own initiative whilst under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Education to HNC level or equivalent experience and Health and Safety qualifications are desirable as is experience of working in a busy science department.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
