Renfrewshire Council is committed to ensuring that children are offered the best start in life and are ready to succeed. The Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic skilled early years' graduate to support the implementation of a quality curriculum to ensure that all children access high quality early learning and teaching experiences.

The key function of the post includes supporting curriculum development and learning and teaching approaches within the establishment. This will include supporting early years staff in their understanding of effective pedagogy. In addition, you will be required to maintain and progress planning, assessment and recording practices and work as part of the management team to support the overall development of the establishment.

Keeping up to date with early years initiatives and developments and guiding staff in relation to the provision of a quality curriculum is required. You should have experience of early years provision, curriculum delivery, planning and assessment. You must have understanding and knowledge of early childhood development, Curriculum for Excellence, Pre-Birth to Three and GIRFEC and an ability to lead and guide other staff in their practice.

You must have a BA Childhood Practice or primary teaching qualification and a HNC/SVQ3 or other equivalent qualification (credit level 7) and must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council or GTC. We can also accept applications from candidates in their final year who have recently qualified in the relevant qualification and are waiting to receive their certificate of graduation.

It is essential you also have report and assessment writing, organisational and communication skills. Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 12 months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier. If successful, you will be required to become a PVG Scheme Member.
