Renfrewshire Council has recently completed a major capital investment programme to bring all of its houses up to the requirements of the Scottish Housing Quality Standard. There is an ongoing requirement to ensure our housing stock is maintained at that standard and our Housing Investment Programme continues to deliver a range of projects to improve our properties both internally and externally. This includes kitchen, bathroom, electrical rewiring and heating improvements as well as external improvements including roofing, render and rainwater goods.

A dedicated team is in place to manage these work programmes and we now wish to appoint a Liaison Officer to work with owners, tenants and contractors to deliver the improvement programmes. Customer satisfaction is a key part of our delivery strategy and as one of a team of Liaison Officers you will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time and to agreed standards.

Our teams work flexibly across the investment programme and you will be required to work on both the internal and external upgrading programmes to reflect operational requirements. It is essential that you have experience of dealing with the public in an interview situation in relation to their specific housing issues and ideally in relation to investment programmes; working and liaising with a variety of agencies; letter/report writing and record keeping.

You must be decisive; have effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative; organise your own workload in response to challenging deadlines and be flexible to attend evening meetings. Knowledge of the role and function of a local authority; rehousing policies and procedures and other public sector bodies is desirable. A SNC level qualification in Housing or equivalent is also desirable. A full driving license is also desirable.

Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 6 months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier. If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
