The Housing Assistant will support Housing Officers in the delivery of local housing services including interviewing and advising customers on their housing prospects/needs; interviewing customers at point of tenancy sign-up and other key tenancy changes including termination of tenancy and maximising the income for the Council and minimise the amount of rent arrears.

You must have relevant experience of dealing with the public in person and on the telephone; working with figures; and Microsoft Office packages. Knowledge of housing services including estate management and debt recovery, effective customer service and communication skills, numeracy skills; and the ability and confidence to deal with angry/upset customers is also required.

You will be expected to use your initiative when making decisions; and work at other locations and/or work flexibly when required.

A National Certificate in Housing (or equivalent) is desirable.

Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 6 Months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
