The Housing Assistant will support Housing Officers in delivering local housing services, including:

  1. Interviewing and advising customers on their housing prospects and needs;
  2. Interviewing customers at tenancy sign-up and during key tenancy changes, including termination;
  3. Maximising the income for the Council and minimising rent arrears.

You must have relevant experience dealing with the public both in person and on the telephone, working with figures, and using Microsoft Office packages. Knowledge of housing services, including estate management and debt recovery, effective customer service and communication skills, numeracy skills, and the confidence to handle upset or angry customers are also required.

You will be expected to use your initiative when making decisions and be willing to work at different locations and/or flexibly when needed.

A National Certificate in Housing (or equivalent) is desirable.

Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding, for 9 months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever is earlier.
