An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic professional to join our Economic Development Team in the role of Green Economy Officer.
This role will suit an organised individual with excellent influencing skills and a sound knowledge and genuine interest in the climate emergency, net zero and sustainability. This is an ideal time to join Renfrewshire Council β in 2019, Renfrewshire Council declared a climate emergency and agreed a challenging target to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
To support this, significant work is now underway. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the growth of the Green Economy in Renfrewshire β identifying opportunities, liaising with key partners and stakeholders at a senior level and developing innovative approaches, pilots and projects to fully maximize the potential in this field.
You must have experience in local government or a similar diverse organisation and a proven record of achievement in partnership working, project management, strategic planning in local government or in some other relevant green/sustainable economic development background.
You must also be able to analyse and present complex information, prepare detailed policy briefings on required topics and have effective verbal communication and presentation skills.
You must have knowledge of the legislative and policy environment in relation to the climate emergency and the green economy and Clear analytical skills to allow the exploration, evaluation and interpretation of information and opinions It is essential that you have a degree or professional qualification on an equivalent level in a relevant subject.
It is desirable that you have experience of leading successful green economy programmes or outcome-focused programmes in a similar field.
This role will be offered on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave for a period of 12 months. If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
