Renfrewshire Council is seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated FM Officer to support the delivery of a high‑quality Facilities Management service at the new Paisley Grammar Community Campus, scheduled to open in August 2026. The new campus has been designed and constructed to Passivhaus standards, creating a more complex operational environment than traditional school buildings.
This role will provide dedicated Facilities Management capacity to ensure the effective day‑to‑day operation of the building, protecting energy performance, compliance, safety and long‑term asset value. Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Manager, you will support the delivery of a combined Hard and Soft Facilities Management service, with responsibility for supervising staff, coordinating services and managing building operations within a live, multi‑use environment.
Duties will include:
- Supervising cleaning, catering, janitorial, porterage, grounds and security services
- Overseeing minor repairs and routine maintenance
- Supporting statutory and health & safety compliance
- Monitoring building systems including the Building Management System (BMS)
- Supporting energy performance and reporting
- Liaising with contractors and internal services
- Providing day‑to‑day supervision, training and performance support to staff
The scope of the role will expand from 2027 to support Facilities Management responsibilities at Park Mains High School and the new Thistle Primary School, following planned developments.
You will have supervisory experience within a Facilities or Operational environment, delivering both Soft and Hard Facilities Management services, experience of carrying out minor repairs, routine maintenance, and statutory compliance checks and experience of working in a customer focused operational setting. You must have an understanding of building security, compliance and health & safety requirements, the ability to prioritise workloads, respond effectively to operational issues across busy sites and lead, motivate and direct operational teams.
Effective communication skills and effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant IT systems are essential. It is essential that you have a relevant qualification in buildings, Facilities Management, or related discipline, and willingness to undertake mandatory training (e.g., H&S, fire safety, water hygiene, food hygiene). A flexible approach to working hours and a current driving licence are essential.
It is desirable that you hold, or are willing to work towards, an SVQ Level 3 in Facilities Management and/or a REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate. Experience working in a large, complex or technically advanced building environment is also desirable. A Disclosure Scotland check will be required; the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
