Renfrewshire Council are looking to recruit enthusiastic and caring early learning support workers for our general supply pool. Appointable candidates will be required to work on a temporary basis covering short or long-term requirements within early learning and childcare establishments across the full Council area. Shifts are usually between 11am-2pm; however, longer shifts may be offered if necessary to meet service requirements. Cover may be within our term time classes or our 52-week classes or centres.

This is a unique opportunity to gain experience of working with young children. You will be part of a team assisting Early Learning and Childcare Officers to deliver high-quality provision for Renfrewshire's youngest children, including the creation of a nurturing and homely environment during the lunchtime period.

Please note that being appointed to the Supply Register does not guarantee any minimum hours per week; pay is calculated based on actual hours worked. Although a qualification is not essential to apply for this post, you should have relevant experience with children and/or young people and demonstrate a commitment and ability to undertake a qualification as stipulated for support workers employed in day care services for children. To fulfil registration requirements, you will be required to gain this qualification within a 3-year period.

Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals that hold or are working towards a relevant qualification at SCQF Level 6 e.g., Services (Children and Young People), NC in Childhood Practice or equivalent. Experience of children and young people, ability to work with children and adults, a caring nature, responsiveness, and an awareness of the needs of young children is also essential.

If not already registered with SSSC as a Support Worker of Day Care of Children Service, successful candidates will be required to start the registration process within three months of appointment to the supply register and be fully registered within six months.
