Renfrewshire Council is looking to recruit an experienced Depute Head of Centre to work as part of the management team.

The main duties of the post are supporting the development of effective channels of communication with children, parent’s staff and other professionals; assisting with the management, development and implementation of the curriculum and supporting and leading staff to ensure that the progress of children is monitored, assessed, recorded in line with council policies and procedures. You will be expected to deputise for the Head of Centre in their absence.

It is essential you have extensive experience in delivering early learning and childcare in line with national, local policy guidance, including ELC, GIRFEC, Child Protection and Inclusion, Experience in self-evaluation and quality improvement processes, and knowledge of associated national and local guidance, Experience in overseeing and delivering a relevant inclusive curriculum, including planning, assessment, and documenting children’s learning in line with national and local guidance and have child and family centered approach.

Effective written and oral communication skills enabling successful engagement with a range of stakeholders, including parents, children, and the local community aswell as skills in organising and managing tasks appropriate to the role.

Knowledge of child development and early learning and childcare pedagogy are also essential.

You must hold a Relevant practice qualification in early learning and childcare: HNC Childhood Practice at SCQF Level 7 or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7) or equivalent and BA in childhood practice or equivalent, as defined by SSSC.

Experience in management and or leadership relevant to early learning and childcare is desirable.

Successful applications must, within the designated timeline, meet the registration requirements of SSSC as Manager of Day Care of Children Service.

Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 10 Months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
