Overview
Renfrewshire Council is looking for suitable candidates to join our Clerical Assistant supply register to provide an effective clerical support service in schools. The temporary arrangements cover short‑term absences across frontline schools in Renfrewshire. The normal hours are 08:30–16:00 with a 30-minute unpaid break.
Responsibilities
- Provide clerical support and engage with stakeholders in schools, including parents, carers, pupils, teaching and support staff, and other partners.
- Adapt communication style quickly to deal with enquiries in a timely manner as part of the school team.
- Contribute to delivering a high-quality clerical service to support education and the needs of young people.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Effective customer service skills and strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Clerical experience within an office environment; ability to work to deadlines and respond to last-minute requests in a process-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team; experience using ICT systems for data input, reporting, email, and Microsoft Office for word processing and finance recording.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when handling cash; literacy and numeracy skills; discretion with confidential information.
- Ability to work in an environment with background noise and regular interruptions; commitment to pastoral care for children.
Desirable
- Experience of working in schools; familiarity with standard systems for procurement, HR, and finance, as well as school systems and processes.
- SVQ level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent.

- Renfrewshire Council uses an online supply booking system (Teacher Booker) to manage all supply cover bookings for schools. If approved for supply work and placed on the supply register, you will be invited to register on the Teacher Booker system.
