The Bid Manager will be a full-time member of the Asset Management (AM) Sales team, working closely with the Heads of Sales and Sales Managers on securing new business opportunities globally across all key technologies (on and offshore wind, solar, battery storage, and hydrogen) for Asset Management and other specialist services.
The role will support the global sales team by preparing responses to tender pre-qualifications and tender responses, including the creation of cost models. The Bid Manager shall also support the Head of Sales Support in developing robust sales infrastructure, including standardised documents & cost models, tender support materials, and processes to ensure efficient operations.
Organisational Context
- Working closely with the global AM Services Team; Technical, Commercial, Financial & the Control Centre
- Support the Head of Sales Support in establishing a standardised approach to Bid Management across the RES markets
- Collaborate with international sales teams and other departments to encourage a consistent approach to multi-national bids
- Regular communication with internal stakeholders
- Communication and collaboration with other groups within RES Services including O&M, Digital Solutions, Engineering, Finance, Insurance, and Legal
- Liaise with internal teams on cost calculators, bid tools, and support international teams
Accountabilities
- Support the sales team in delivering a programme of business development activity to meet targets
- Lead the production of bids, tenders & proposals
- Lead the creation of the cost calculation
- Manage, coordinate and document gaining business approval prior to preparing and submitting bids
- Accurately record and track proposals and relevant project data within the CRM system (SalesForce)
- Work closely with the sales team to help deliver Strategic Objectives
- Monitor industry tender portals
- Help develop a culture of continuous improvement through analysis of customer and internal feedback
- Liaise with peers in other RES markets and countries to support the standardisation of sales activity and infrastructure across the Group
Alongside the technical accountabilities, the role will also require:
- Travel internationally
- Attendance at key and relevant conferences and public events to enhance RES’s visibility in the market
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of the wind/solar/storage renewable energy sectors
- Knowledge of the business development process used for selling renewable energy AM Services in a B2B environment
- Detailed knowledge of bid management
- Knowledge of key contractual terms in relation to AM agreements
Skills
- Excellent communication skills for leading virtual teams and representing RES credibly in meetings, presentations, and written proposals
- Good numerical analysis skills for supporting the development of cost models
- Strong research and strategic analysis
- Good organisational skills to meet demanding timescales on multiple tenders and business development activities
- Experience using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Salesforce systems
Experience
- Experience in preparing proposals and gaining business approvals
- Experience of working within the UK (wind/solar/storage) renewable energy sectors
Qualifications
- A degree in business, engineering, management or similar, or equivalent qualification is desirable, but a proven background in relevant business development activity may be sufficient
