Join our Architecture team and help shape the future of Altium's products. The team works across Altium Designer, Altium 365 and Octopart; in this role you'll focus on Altium 365 and the solutions that partners build on top of it. Altium 365 is a complex cloud platform, with technology ranging from microservices and event-driven data processing to object stores, relational and key-value databases and search engines, delivered both as SaaS and on-prem through Altium Enterprise Server. We work cross-functionally with engineering teams across the organisation, its locations and languages. Teams make architecture decisions through an architecture advice process: we advise, connect people, own cross-cutting decisions and promote consistent architectural patterns across the platform. The role gives you a view of the whole of Altium's technology, and the chance to leave a lasting mark on how architecture is practised at Altium.
About the role
As Senior Staff Architect for Altium 365, you'll own the big picture of how the platform is structured and how it evolves. You'll drive a model-first, domain-driven approach to design, so teams agree on the domain before the implementation. You will:
- Lead domain-driven design: facilitate domain modelling, define bounded contexts and maintain shared domain models.
- Define the target architecture for Altium 365 and keep it consistent across every deployment.
- Guide the platform's openness: API strategy, integrations, the Developer Center, and the architecture that lets partners build vertical solutions on top.
- Shape how AI agents work with Altium data: MCP, authentication, scopes and security.
- Advise teams through the architecture advice process, and own cross-cutting decisions and their ADRs.
- Build prototypes and proofs of concept to test ideas before teams commit to them.
- Review designs and mentor engineers.
This is a hands-on role: expect deep dives into a large codebase and complex production environments.
