The role
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Rotary Driller to join our team! Your work will include:
- Operation of drilling rigs (Comacchio GEO602, 900 and 909GT) and related equipment to drill geothermal boreholes on land-based sites, to depths in excess of 200m.
- Operation of mud cleaning/recycling equipment and deployment of a site-specific mud programme to allow the efficient, clean drilling of closed-loop GSHP boreholes.
- Installation of closed-loop heat collectors in vertical and inclined boreholes, grouting and completion per design specification.
- Interpret drilling plans and geological data to optimise loop placement and BH depth.
- Maintain daily drilling records, including depth, drilling conditions, and equipment use.
- Complete QA/QC testing on installed loops and ensure good records are kept.
- Ensure drilling activities comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance; troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform basic field repairs.
About you
You will be an enthusiastic and motivated experienced Lead Driller who thrives in a team. The ideal location for you to be based is the Southwest of England. Although this is a Nationwide role, you must be willing to travel for work (with expenses paid). The successful candidate will need to pass drug and alcohol screening and be capable of passing both a safety critical medical certificate, and DBS checks.
Qualifications and desired skills
- Demonstrable experience of drilling boreholes to depths in excess of 200m
- CSCS card, or the ability to obtain one
- Emergency First Aid at Work is preferred but not essential
- Telehandler ticket/license is preferred but not essential
- Full UK Driving license
- Effective and clear communication and interpersonal skills
- NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling (Essential)
