Working to retrofit existing homes with heat pumps and batteries to deliver clean heating and energy savings to customers.
The role:
- As our Senior Heating Engineer and first critical hire into our Domestic division, you will be responsible for installing heat pumps, cylinders, and other relevant equipment.
- You will be essential in re-thinking how heat pumps are installed and delivered to help increase adoption and drive growth.
- You will primarily start out on the tools, with significant opportunity to grow and shape your career as a manager and technical expert.
- You will have support from the larger business, working closely with our Commercial division, particularly the Engineering and Installation departments, to ensure that we are fitting efficient, reliable systems.
- You will be teamed up with a Senior Electrical Engineer (Electrician) to deliver heat pumps and batteries to homeowners.
- Your work will include surveying homes, ensuring the right information is captured in the home to evaluate, quote and deliver heat pumps and batteries.
- Delivering equipment to customers' homes when needed, working with the wider team and Rendesco's stores manager to ensure the right equipment arrives to site on time for installation.
- Installing heat pumps, heating interface units (HIU) and the relevant connections, fittings and system components, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Fault-finding and fixing problems that arise by using your technical knowledge and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Training other installers and helping to develop training materials to support the installation of our equipment and scaling of our business.
- Contributing feedback from site to ensure we continuously improve and meet our customers' needs.
- Developing processes and procedures based on your experiences to ensure we are delivering and operating efficiently.
- Collaborating with colleagues across departments, including Engineering and Maintenance, to support a seamless customer journey.
About you:
- Demonstrable experience in plumbing and fitting cylinders, including exposure to a variety of materials, tools and techniques used in the trade and a track record of project completion at a high standard.
- A strong background in fitting ASHPs is a must; any experience in fitting GSHPs would be looked upon very favourably.
- Inspection & testing experience, demonstrating the production and completion of registration reports for MCS certified equipment with the DNO.
- Technical knowledge, including an understanding of domestic hydraulic installations to meet performance and safety requirements.
- Understanding of hot water regulations and guidelines including the UK's Building Regulations Part G or equivalent.
- Track record in renewables, infrastructure, or construction with an understanding of the challenges and practices associated with domestic installations.
- Innovative approach, considering how we can do things differently to grow our business.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of diagnosing and resolving issues quickly.
- Willingness to travel to various work locations, including extended stays away from home to meet project demands.
- Desire to learn new skills and develop your career.
- Team player with experience working in a team of developers and collaborating with colleagues across other departments.
Qualifications and desired skills:
- Engineering or Plumbing Qualification: NVQ level 2 or level 3 (or equivalent).
- MCS Certified.
- WRAS Qualifications (water regs).
- Unvented hot water systems (part G).
- Gas safe registered (Essential).
