We are seeking an experienced Team Leader â NDT to lead and develop our NonâDestructive Testing capability within a fastâpaced, highâperformance engineering environment. This is a handsâon leadership role, responsible for managing NDT technicians, allocating work effectively, and ensuring inspections and proof/load testing activities are delivered safely, accurately and on time to support critical build, test and race operations.
You will play a key role in maintaining inspection standards, driving workflow efficiency, and acting as a technical authority and people leader within the Quality Control function.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach and develop a team of NDT Technicians and Senior NDT Technicians to meet business and event deadlines
- Plan, allocate and balance workload using effective push/pull strategies to ensure onâtime delivery
- Carry out and oversee NDT inspection of new and inâservice components using appropriate techniques and standards
- Ensure proof and load testing activities are completed in line with the latest specifications, with accurate recording and data storage
- Review inspection findings, manage nonâconformances and liaise with engineers and designers as required
- Maintain accurate records and work order bookings (e.g. Dynamics 365)
- Ensure NDT equipment, fixtures and test programmes are certified, maintained and fit for purpose
- Support staff selection, training, performance management and continuous improvement initiatives
- Act as deputy to the Quality Control Manager when required
- Occasionally support offâsite NDT activity, including track or event support
You will be a confident technical leader with strong NDT expertise and the ability to motivate and guide a team operating under intense time and quality pressures.
Essential experience and skills:- Proven people leadership experience within an engineering or inspection environment
- Strong engineering background with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Inâdepth knowledge of NDT processes including UT, PT, MP, ET, RT, CT and AE
- NDT Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (PCN or EN4179)
- Competent in the use of proof and load testing equipment
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and production systems (e.g. Dynamics 365)
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Calm, objective and effective under pressure and tight deadlines
- Proactive, flexible and solutionsâfocused with a âcanâdoâ approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
