About Us Renaissance® is a global leader in education technology. We help schools and school groups in the UK and around the world with educational assessments, practice and intervention solutions, and data analytics. Renaissance now incorporates GL Assessment (known internationally as GL Education), too – a leading provider of educational assessments. Together, our assessments offer the ideal starting point to help teachers understand their students’ strengths and pinpoint areas of need. Our teaching and learning tools then provide effective next steps, with online literacy and maths solutions that meet students exactly where we are. Worldwide, we support over 18 million students, operating in over 100 countries.

Renaissance is seeking a Bids and Tenders Manager to lead and evolve our end-to-end bidding and tendering capability to secure contracts aligned to our strategic growth objectives. This role will take ownership of the full bid lifecycle—from opportunity identification and qualification through to submission and post-bid evaluation—ensuring a disciplined, insight-led and commercially robust approach. You'll define and implement a bid and tenders roadmap and best practice processes, governance, and tools across the organisation and will work closely with cross-functional teams to create compelling proposals that align with the company's strengths and strategy.

Bids & Tenders Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Identify strategic opportunities – Monitor tender portals, procurement websites, and industry publications to proactively identify opportunities.
  • Qualify opportunities – Undertake robust assessment of viability, profitability, risk, and strategic alignment, leading bid/no-bid decisions.
  • Coordinate bid teams – Align cross-functional teams, including sales, commercial, and legal experts, ensuring clear ownership and accountability for all deliverables.
  • Quality assurance – Take ownership of proposal quality, ensuring compliance, accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Develop compelling proposals – Oversee the creation of persuasive, high-quality responses to complex client requirements.
  • Technical writing – Support the translation of complex solutions into clear, client-focused and commercially impactful language.
  • Commercial structuring – Partner with finance teams to define pricing strategies and commercial models.
  • Value proposition development – Shape and articulate clear, differentiated value propositions and key benefits.
  • Vendor management – Coordinate with subcontractors and partners to ensure seamless bid delivery.
  • Senior management reporting – Provide regular, insight-led updates on bid pipeline, performance, and win rates.
  • Build and maintain bid libraries – Develop and continuously improve templates, case studies, and standard responses.
  • Track performance metrics – Monitor and analyse win rates, margins, and competitor activity to inform strategy.
  • Support team development – Develop and motivate team members to achieve individual and collective performance goals.
  • Foster positive team culture – Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Experience we’d love to see includes:

  • Substantial experience in a similar role managing bids/tender processes.
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement or frameworks.
  • Knowledge of bid management tools.
  • Bid/proposal qualification (desirable).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous learning.

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences. If you're passionate about this work and meet many of the criteria above, we encourage you to apply.
