Do you have a solid understanding of school finances, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities? Join our team as a School Finance Officer at a dynamic school in South London. Key Responsibilities: Support Headteachers and Finance & Business Lead in providing value-added, customer-focused business support and relationship management for budget accountability. Assist in financial planning, management, reconciliations, reporting, and statutory/statistical returns. Develop financial competence and ensure compliance in the use of school financial systems by administrative staff. Drive the evolution of finance into a proactive, data-driven, value-adding service with a focus on technological improvements. Ensure accurate transactional postings and maintain the correct financial position in the school accounts. Promote efficiency, value for money, and a solutions-focused approach in budgetary control and financial processes. Build strong relationships with school and Local Authority stakeholders, supporting financial reporting as required. Manage detailed financial operations, including POs, invoices, reconciliations, debt collection, and support for contracts, leases, and licences. Key Requirements: Experience of working in maintained schools, with an understanding of school accounts. High attention to detail and accuracy. Experience in school budget setting, monitoring, and closure of accounts. Ability to interpret financial data, applying logic and judgment. Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships. Excellent time management, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines. Experience using Xero and school finance systems, with strong IT and Excel skills. Quick learner. Financial qualification (CIPFA/AAT) or currently studying towards one. Experience with Approval Max.
