As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Sales Manager based in Birmingham to oversee and manage the material flow from our international mills to end-users across the UK and Europe. This role is key to expanding our footprint and strengthening relationships with key clients.

Job Overview: The Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the sales process of hot rolled long and flat steel products from our international mills through to delivery and final use by construction and civil engineering clients. This is a customer-facing role with responsibility for the full sales lifecycle, from managing material flow and inventory to coordinating logistics and driving business growth within a fast-paced and competitive market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Management: Develop and implement sales strategies to increase market share in the UK and Europe. Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the construction and civil engineering sectors. Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, including contractors, distributors, and engineers. Manage the entire sales process, from quotation to contract negotiation, ensuring customer satisfaction at all stages. Meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics while managing budgets and forecasts.
  • Material Flow Coordination: Oversee the logistics and supply chain process, ensuring timely delivery of hot rolled steel products from international mills to customers. Coordinate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure seamless product availability and delivery. Monitor inventory levels, ensuring efficient stock management and minimum disruptions to the supply chain.
  • Customer and Market Insight: Provide valuable insights into customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing technical support and addressing any queries or issues related to product specifications or delivery schedules. Organize and attend industry events, trade shows, and customer visits to promote the company’s products and capabilities.
  • Contract Management & Negotiation: Prepare and present quotes, negotiate terms, and finalize contracts with customers, ensuring profitability and long-term partnerships. Work closely with legal and finance teams to ensure all contracts are compliant and executed correctly.
  • Reporting & Strategy Development: Regularly report on sales performance, market conditions, and competitive activities to senior management. Contribute to the development of sales strategies and initiatives that align with the company’s overall objectives.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in sales management within the steel, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of hot rolled steel products and their applications in construction and civil engineering.
  • Demonstrated success in managing international supply chains and coordinating material flows.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with logistics management, inventory control, and international shipping.
  • Ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A background in engineering or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
