The Position

A Team Leader is responsible for all the work of a team and the spokesperson for everyone in it. They are expected to manage team dynamics and always bring out the best in everyone. A team leader is not expected to be the best in a team but rather help others become the best version they can be and guide the team towards optimized execution.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers (backend and frontend).
  2. Spend approximately 30% of their time on management tasks. Actively participate in product development within their team outside of management duties.
  3. Participate in hiring processes for their team and potentially assist peers.
  4. Handle onboarding of new engineers.
  5. Manage team dynamics and foster a positive environment, bringing out the best in team members.
  6. Provide continuous, constructive feedback.
  7. Support the team’s ongoing growth and be responsible for each direct report’s career development.
  8. Provide guidance and coaching to team members.

Requirements

  1. Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  2. Extensive experience with Backend development, specifically Elixir/Phoenix.
  3. Commitment to promoting Remote\’s values within the team and organization.
  4. Solid knowledge of engineering principles and best practices.
  5. Proven organizational skills with attention to detail.
  6. Focus on efficient processes with a people-first approach.
  7. Ability to inspire others and instill confidence.
  8. Good understanding of team dynamics.
  9. Ambitious and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Remote Compensation Philosophy

Remote’s Total Rewards philosophy ensures fair, unbiased compensation and competitive benefits across all locations. We pay above in-location rates to avoid exploitative practices and support global talent-hiring, bringing wealth to developing countries.

The salary range for this full-time position is USD 73,150 to USD 164,600, determined by role, level, and location. The actual salary will depend on various factors including skills, experience, and market conditions. The range may be updated.
