A world-leading ESG-focused digital maritime platform is seeking a seasoned Vetting & Inspections Superintendent to join their team in London. This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on global shipping safety and sustainability, working closely with international colleagues and reporting directly to the Head of Inspections based in Melbourne, Australia.

Their mission is to drive operational improvements in the global shipping industry, ensuring safer, more sustainable voyages for all.

As a Vetting & Inspections Superintendent, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and managing an effective vessel inspection system. This hybrid role requires you to be based in London or within commuting distance, as you’ll be expected to work from the office three times a week (on-site inspections count as an in-office day). You’ll report to the Head of Inspections in Melbourne, Australia, and collaborate with a global team to:

  • Conduct vessel inspections and vetting activities, primarily for Dry Carriers and Tankers
  • Assess DOC Holders for compliance with relevant standards
  • Review PSC inspections and incident reports
  • Support customers with marine activities and technical expertise
  • Contribute to the development of industry standards and best practices
  • Ensure timely completion and review of vessel inspections
  • Provide feedback on inspection quality and inspector performance
  • Perform vetting activities across various vessel types
  • Keep the vetting platform updated with relevant information

Qualifications & Experience

  • Chief Engineer certification (mandatory)
  • At least 3–5 years’ sea time as Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer on International Trading Dry Carriers and Tankers
  • Relevant shore-based experience (e.g., Technical Superintendent)
  • Ideally, OCIMF/SIRE examination certification (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of ship operations, international maritime legislation, and industry best practices
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Candidates must be based in London or within commuting distance
