Summary
RMI is seeking a highly competent, proactive, and professional QNUK Level 3 First Aider to provide immediate medical assistance to our valued client's on-site workforce in the Bristol, United Kingdom (BS34) area.
This is a vital role focused on maintaining the health, safety, and wellbeing of individuals across the client's site. The successful candidate will be provided with all necessary equipment and a dedicated site vehicle to support the delivery of first aid services.
This position is paid on a day rate for short term holiday cover through out the year.
Key Responsibilities
As the designated on-site First Aider, you will:
- Respond promptly and effectively to all requests for first aid assistance between 08:00 and 16:00, Monday to Friday, excluding UK Bank and Public Holidays.
- Assess casualties and determine appropriate treatment in line with QNUK Level 3 First Aid at Work standards and best practice.
- Provide emergency first aid treatment for a wide range of situations, including:
- Unresponsive casualties (CPR and recovery position)
- Choking incidents
- Minor and major bleeding
- Shock
- Cuts, grazes, burns, bruises and splinters
- Suspected head, spinal and chest injuries
- Eye injuries
- Anaphylaxis
- Medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, seizures, asthma attacks and diabetic incidents
- Ensure first aid equipment and the dedicated site vehicle are fully stocked, maintained and ready for use.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of incidents, assessments and treatments in accordance with data protection requirements and client procedures.
- Liaise with emergency services when required, providing clear and accurate information.
- Offer reassurance and support to casualties and others affected by incidents.
- Comply with all RMI policies, client health and safety procedures, and infection control requirements.
- Act as a key medical point of contact and contribute to a safe and positive working environment.
- Support emergency response and first aid exercises by facilitating realistic scenarios to enhance business resilience.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements
- Current QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) or an equivalent nationally recognised qualification.
- Proven experience delivering first aid and managing a variety of medical emergencies and injuries.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider team.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general IT literacy.
- Full right to work in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence with no penalty points.
- Enhanced DBS check.
- Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Bristol (BS34) area.
Desirable
- Experience within an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or complex client-facing environment.
- Additional medical, healthcare, or emergency response qualifications.
- Certificate in Mental Health First Aid.
