Open to remote candidates across North America, with options to work in our offices in NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle. This creative leadership role reports directly to the Chief Creative Officer and is responsible for guiding all creative output from concept through execution. The role owns brand and product campaigns, sets art direction, writes or directs copy, and leads a team of copywriters, art directors, brand designers, and video producers.
Responsibilities
- Develop creative concepts, campaigns and brand platform work across all channels and formats.
- Provide creative direction and oversight across the full department, extending authority beyond direct reports.
- Manage and grow a creative team including writers, art directors, designers, video editors, developers and social specialists.
- Concept and create key pieces personally when necessary – act as a “player / coach.”
- Set art direction and copy direction for campaigns, brand, web, product, video, events, and social.
- Collaborate with product marketing to translate briefs into powerful creative ideas.
- Oversee photo and video shoots with studio teams and freelance production crews.
- Brief and manage freelance talent and agency partners during campaign surges.
- Help establish creative processes, review cadences, and quality standards as the department scales.
- Present concepts and creative work to senior stakeholders with clarity and conviction.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in creative roles, with significant experience at agencies or in-house teams that think like agencies.
- A portfolio demonstrating conceptual range across copy and art direction across multiple mediums.
- Active use of AI in the creative process.
- Proven ability to direct and elevate writers, art directors and designers.
- Strong art direction sensibilities, deep knowledge of industry-defining work, and sharp instincts for language and tone.
- Experience leading and mentoring creative talent, not just directing work.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to shape department operations on the fly.
- Experience directing video and motion work, not just static copy.
- Understanding that advertising and content are integrated disciplines.
- Track record of proactively creating own opportunities and building their careers.
Benefits & Compensation
Competitive salary for U.S. candidates: $250,000 – $290,000 per year. Compensation includes a total rewards package and pay equity principles. Salary is determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
