Reports to: Corporate Quality Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred and/or equivalent analytical chemistry experience
  • Introductory position possible; one or more years of relevant experience in chemical analysis in a primary metals production facility is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of managing laboratory processes including selecting, maintaining, standardizing, and operating analytical equipment. Experience with LECO and OES is a significant plus.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Based on experience, knowledge, and education.
  • Annual Bonus: 0% – 15% of base.
  • Vacation: 1–2 weeks depending on experience level.

Work Hours (approximately)

50 hours per week (4am – 2pm) plus 1 Saturday per month.

Primary Duties

  • Chemical Laboratory – responsible for maintenance, calibration, and standardization of analytical equipment; sample preparation, testing, reporting accurate results, and logging anomalies or significant events. Additionally, ensures alloy production within customer specifications and coordinates key production steps while alloy is molten metal (trim additions, oxidation, or reduction steps).

General Duties

  • Product Integrity – part of quality team responsible for every item shipped from Remelt Sources, Inc. to customers and outside processors.
  • Process Control – maintains a high level of process control defined by 6‑Sigma capability; develops Control Plans and monitoring; investigates variations; implements process changes in a controlled way; conducts routine audits.
  • Quality Systems – creates and maintains a Quality System meeting AS9100, NADCAP, and customer certifications, fostering continuous improvement.
