Rochdale Council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Fostering Kinship service. We are looking to appoint an experienced social worker into the Connected Persons Team (1 x 37 hours) within Rochdale's Fostering Service.
Kinship care is a growing and integral part of achieving permanency for children and young people in a way that promotes their right to a family life, and so we are looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and skilled Social Worker who is able to write robust and relational assessments and have a passion to engage families with curiosity and understanding.
Within the Connected Persons Team you will be involved in:
- Completion of full Connected Persons Assessment, regulation 24 and viability assessments
- Presentation at fostering panel
- Support and supervision of Kinship foster carers
- Attending court as required
- Delivering carer training (Skills to Foster and Secure Base Training)
- Completing fostering tasks including foster carer supervisions
This role will involve some weekend and evening working, so the successful candidate must be available and prepared to work flexibly when required.
This is an exciting time to be joining the service as we have established three Mockingbird Hubs, a Supported Lodgings Service and the fostering team are also working closely with the No Wrong Door hub. In addition, we are training all our foster carers in the Secure Base model and Therapeutic Parenting with PACE training.
The successful candidate will have:
- A sound knowledge of children's legislation and practice
- Experience writing assessments
- Direct experience of completing Connected Person' assessments and supervising and supporting foster carers (advantage)
As an experienced, qualified Social Worker you will be required to work within a framework for induction, supervision and professional development with the support from an experienced line manager. You will be welcomed into a friendly, stable and experienced team of social workers within the fostering service. These posts have become available due to the increased volume of work within the Connected Persons Team. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS.
