KS3 & KS4 Tutor | South London & Surrounding Areas
Remedy Tutoring is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and experienced tutor to support KS3 and KS4 students across South London and the surrounding areas.
We are seeking dedicated tutors who are passionate about helping young people who are working below their expected age-related level to improve their academic skills, build confidence and make meaningful progress.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students aged 11β16 who may have gaps in their education, struggle with core subjects, have Special Educational Needs (SEN) or find mainstream education challenging. Tutors must be confident adapting lessons to each student's current ability, rather than simply teaching at their chronological year-group level.
The Role
Deliver one-to-one tuition to students in KS3 (Years 7β9) and KS4 (Years 10β11) who are working below their expected academic level.
Support students across core subjects, including English, Maths and Science, depending on your qualifications and subject specialisms.
Assess students' existing knowledge and identify gaps in learning to establish an appropriate starting point.
Plan and deliver personalised lessons based on the student's current ability, individual targets and learning needs.
Break down complex topics into manageable steps, revisiting foundational skills where necessary.
Support students who may be working significantly below age-related expectations, including those who need to consolidate primary-level skills while studying in secondary school.
Build confidence, motivation and independence through achievable learning goals and positive reinforcement.
Adapt teaching methods and resources to support students with SEN, additional learning needs or disrupted education.
Support KS4 students with GCSE preparation where appropriate, while ensuring any underlying gaps in knowledge are addressed.
Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies to help students work towards their individual academic targets.
Provide a calm, structured and supportive learning environment that encourages engagement and participation.
Deliver tuition in students' homes, libraries or school settings, depending on the requirements of each placement.
Ideally, a minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience.
Experience working with students aged 11β16 who are working below their expected academic level.
Strong subject knowledge in one or more core subjects, particularly English and Maths.
Relevant teaching qualifications, such as PGCE or QTS, are desirable.
Experience supporting students with SEN, learning difficulties or gaps in their education.
The ability to differentiate lessons and teach according to a student's actual working level rather than their age or school year.
Patience and confidence when revisiting foundational skills and adapting the pace of learning.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan structured, purposeful lessons.
A full driving licence and access to reliable transport is desirable for roles requiring travel between tuition locations.
Availability & Working Arrangements
We welcome tutors with a range of availability, including those looking for regular weekly tuition or more flexible opportunities.
Tuition usually takes place Monday to Friday, with specific days and times depending on each student's needs and the agreed timetable.
Tutors must be comfortable delivering sessions in students' homes, libraries or school settings, depending on the requirements of each placement.
Location
South Croydon and surrounding South London areas.
