This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to a young person's education by providing consistent 1:1 tuition in a safe, supportive environment.

The student requires a tutor who can build trust, encourage engagement and deliver personalised learning that helps them progress both academically and personally.

The Role

You will provide

2 hours of face-to-face tuition each weekday within the care home, delivering engaging lessons that are tailored to the student's current ability and learning needs. The focus will be on supporting the

Key Stage 4 curriculum , helping to prepare the student for their GCSE studies while rebuilding confidence and developing a positive attitude towards learning.

Working closely with the care home staff and wider professionals involved in the young person's care, you will play an important role in supporting both their educational progress and overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition to a Year 10 student within a residential care home.
  • Teach core GCSE subjects, with a focus on English, Maths and Science where appropriate.
  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons that meet the student's individual learning needs.
  • Build a positive, consistent and trusting relationship to encourage engagement.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit the student's learning style and emotional needs.
  • Monitor progress and maintain clear records of attendance, attainment and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with care staff, social workers and other professionals.
  • Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote confidence, resilience and a positive approach to education.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher, Tutor or experienced SEN professional.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or supporting students outside of mainstream education.
  • Confident teaching Key Stage 4 and GCSE-level subjects.
  • Experience working with Looked After Children, young people with SEMH needs, SEND or those who have experienced trauma is highly desirable.
  • Patient, resilient and able to build strong professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
