Our client Oxfordshire county council is looking for a Senior Social Worker to join their Children Family Solutions West Team 2.
Job Purpose
To provide professional social work to a caseload of children, young people, and families, appropriate to experience and capabilities, ensuring their views are heard. To maintain the highest professional standards and a comprehensive knowledge of relevant law, legislation and practice, in line with the values and principles of FSP. To deliver high‑quality services that integrate government and local guidance and initiatives, including the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together, local Child Protection and Looked After Children procedures, and the Department of Health Assessment Framework 2000.
Responsibilities
- Provide an efficient and effective service to children, young people and their families, ensuring their needs are professionally assessed and that appropriate interventions are delivered in a timely manner.
- Work with families using the FSP Workbook modules and a strengths‑based approach.
- Prepare and submit written reports as required, including child protection conference reports and legal reports for care proceedings.
- Attend conferences, reviews and court hearings for each case, presenting plans clearly with professionalism and integrity.
- Keep the Assistant/Team Manager fully informed of significant information about allocated families, seeking advice as necessary.
- Attend group supervision when required and provide relevant updates before each session.
- Attend individual supervision when required and engage in continual professional development, as recommended by the Assistant/Team Manager.
- Use ICT to maintain accurate case records and ensure activity is recorded in line with key performance management data.
- Ensure all case management complies with statutory requirements and the Council's policies and procedures.
- Act as the duty worker for the team on a rotational basis.
- Undertake child and family assessments for allocated families when required.
- Investigate allegations of harm or neglect under s47 of the Children Act 1989 when required.
- Practice in line with the Council's procedures and statutory regulation when supporting children who come into the care of the local authority.
- Be familiar with and committed to equal opportunities, anti‑discriminatory and anti‑oppressive practice, implementing this in all aspects of working practice and promoting it within the team, workplace and wider organisation.
- Proactively liaise with and work in partnership with other agencies and organisations, parents and carers.
